i was wondering if any of you can recommend some good places to hang out and chat with a bunch of friends. the place must have good parking, good food & drinks, a comfortable location, some entertainment, open to late and most of all not too expensive.

if you happen to be around shah alam / bukit jelutong area, you should drop by the restoran MMZ. the place is not your typical mamak place. main differentiators for MMZ are the ample parking (suitable for car club members to show of their cars & mods), and the wide range of food: you can get your usual mamak fare, plus sup tulang, nasi lemak (recommend the ayam kampung goreng), satay, etc.

I've been 2 MMZ b4. They serve good food. I like the nasi lemak ayam kampung goreng. My friends hang out there every month.
for a slightly happening place for meeting friends, i would recommend The Curve at Mutiara Damansara, Petaling Jaya.
the curve is a shopping mall with special focus on pubs, eateries, coffee bars, karaoke and other social stuff. next to the curve is the new Cathay Cineleisure cineplex. so it is a great place to hang out and watch a good movie. the place also is wi-fi enabled, so you can get your internet fix as well.
It is opposite the Ikea/Ikano complex, and not too far from 1Utama.

centrepoint at bandar utama is another place for a good hang out. for eateries there, i like pizza uno for no frills but great tasting pizza and pasta.

Where to hang out normally depends on who I go with, what sort of food I am looking for as well as what is it I intend to do there (i.e. purely makan, lepak-lepak with friends, meeting etc).
Normally, if I don't really know where to go ... but I have the other questions answered, I'd go to Friedchillies.com.
However, if you are trying to find good food near a certain neighbourhood for the sake of catching dinner or supper ... I am not sure ... I have that problem myself. Need to ask thy neighbours for that tip.
The Curve is definitely my favorite hang out place, and here's some of my favorites:
1. One of the best chicken porridge in town would be the Chicken Porridge @ Kopi Oh! in LG Floor, Cineleisure Damansara. Endless, huge chunks of chicken, and just the right amount of seasoning will definitely excite chicken porridge lovers. Very fulfilling, indeed.
2. Bed of Mushroom pizza @ Vivo: http://www.vivopizza.com/pizza.html is worth a try. Cream cheese, fresh mushrooms and almond flakes combo never tastes better.
3. Big Apple Donuts - should I say more? Ah well, Say Cheese! Yes, they do have a donut called "Say Cheese" and for people who would like to tantalize their tastebuds with the collision of salty and sweet should have a go.
4. RedBox Karaoke : http://www.redbox.com.my - nice food, guaranteed good time
5. Caffe 1920 : http://www.caffe1920.com is not bad, especially if you're looking forward to do an Italian Job
Their pizzas are quite nice as well, try Pizza Bianca al Salmone.
Not to mention the Swedish meatballs, Poached Salmon and Daim cake next door at Ikea restaurant...
I better stop before I start salivating here.
